Social distance in France: Evolution of homogeneity within personal networks from 2001 to 2017

This article explores the evolution of homogeneity within personal networks in France over time and across several relational contexts, using two cross-sectional surveys conducted 2001 (n = 399) 2017 663). Personal have changed relatively little overall, but with a tendency toward more among most educated, 26–45 61−75 year-olds, singles, childless individuals. Differences rates network are only partly explained by demographic shifts French society. These findings mostly consistent those other studies Hungary USA. We argue that effects rising education levels, segmentation social contexts terms age, transformation family models – which can be observed western countries reinforce spheres characterized similar lifestyles.
